FLL Teams
What is FIRST® LEGO League?
FIRST® LEGO League is a competition designed for elementary and middle school students that serves as an introduction to robotics for young children. Students in this competition are required to build a LEGO robot that solves multiple challenges while preparing a project on a real-world problem based on a theme.
This theme may be related to a practical topic, which can range from space exploration to transportation and deliveries. For example, this year’s theme is “Submerged”, which was based on the ocean's ecosystem. Beneath the ocean’s surface lies our planet’s most complex ecosystems, full of life and potential for exploration and learning, where each inhabitant has a role to play in building a thriving environment. Teams will use their STEM and collaboration skills to explore life beneath the surface of the ocean. Along the way, we’ll uncover the potential in each of us to strengthen our community and innovate for a better world with healthy oceans.
OrcaBots FLL Team # 66514
In 2024-2025 FIRST® LEGO League Season SUBMERGED OrcaBots has 8 members. Hosting this program allowed for aspiring engineers and programmers to learn and participate in an enriching competition. The team created a LEGO robot to complete missions related to energy conservation, usage, and wastage. These topics are all prevalent in the real world, demonstrating the importance of introducing robotics at a young age. Their project involved finding a way to conserve energy, and what they did was they created a prototype which entails a mechanical timer turning off houselights, as that is a common source of energy wastage in our homes.
